Let’s Talk it Out

Therapy online and in person in Worthing, Brighton and outdoors in nature

Hello, I’m Emma and I offer individual therapy to adults; online and in person. I believe in the resourcefulness of the human spirit and in the value of helping people to uncover their own solutions to life’s challenges.
I have a Masters in Psychology and a PGDip in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am an UKCP accredited psychotherapist, a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am a doctoral researcher in the final year of my training as a Counselling Psychologist. My research explores how time spent in nature may be experienced as therapeutic, within the context of post-traumatic growth.
I have additional training in Non Violent Communication, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy (Level 1).
In addition to my private practice, I have gained clinical experience in the NHS, and within community counselling services. I have worked with clients experiencing many different issues, including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, body image, addictions and relationship issues. I also have experience working with both patients and carers within an NHS cancer support service.
Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked in Human Resources at senior level for many years and have experience of helping individuals to understand the complexities that arise in the workplace and how to navigate through these.

Therapy is a confidential place for you to talk about anything you want. It offers you a chance to get a better understanding of where you find yourself in life. It is a time each week when you can take stock, collect your thoughts and check in with yourself without any of the usual day-to-day distractions. It is a time to reflect on your assumptions and values, and to get a better sense of what you want for yourself.
I know from my personal experience of being in therapy that sitting with difficult thoughts and feelings can, at times, feel like hard work. You will need to be willing to face up to the things you find difficult, that you find hard to accept or deny.

I see my role as helping you to understand the situation you find yourself in; through listening and questioning, I will work with you to help you to describe and clarify your unique way of being and how you relate to the world. I aim to support you in considering what matters to you and how you might live your life more the way you want to.
Please contact me to arrange an introductory session, if this sounds like what you are looking for.

I provide one-to-one therapy to adults, online and in person, in Worthing and Brighton. I also offer the option of walking therapy, combining talking therapy with the therapeutic value of spending time outdoors in nature.
Initially, you have the choice between a 30 minute introductory session at a reduced rate, or to have a full length session at the full fee. An introductory session will give you a sense of what it will be like to work with me and for us both to consider how we will work together.
Thereafter, sessions typically take place weekly and are for 50 minutes. I can work with you for as few as 6 weekly sessions up to a period of years, meaning we can tailor our time to meet your needs.

My fees are £40 for a 30 minute introductory session and £80 for a 50 minute session, payable before each session. I also have a limited number of lower cost sessions available.
I don’t charge for sessions that you aren’t able to attend, if you give me a minimum of 7 days’ notice.
If you have any questions, or would like to book an introductory meeting, email me here.
You can also call me on 07838 337316 to leave a voicemail message for me. I will return your call as soon as I can.
